Changed the lampshade to this one for some whimsy

Small things in styling and design that make a big difference to a room

It is amazing how small things can make a big difference to a room. There is really no need to spend thousands of dollars. Buying vintage and secondhand items and looking at what you already have with fresh eyes can make a big difference.

I am in a very long period of working out my bedroom makeover and hinted the other day at the final decision – painting, which will happen hopefully in next month, all being well. Having spent the past few days in hospital with a sick child who will be sick for a bit longer yet has put a spanner in those works, but that is life and he is my number one!

Last week however I made some small changes to my bedroom and already it feels renewed!

Here are the things I did:

Picked up this great side table and canvas print of lavender from the Op Shop for $20

Added some fabric and bits and bots

Added this divine Kantha bought at the Adelaide Vintage Fair to my bed. It looks so wonderful in the full light.

Changed the lamp shade to this one bought at Temple and Webster, all Aussie designed and made with eco friendly materials for a touch of whimsy.

Changed the lampshade to this one for some whimsy – always wanted a horse!

Moved some pictures from another room (not all shown but will do when the painting is all done!) so there was more visuals on the walls and stacked one on top of my vintage suitcase pile. And added a gorgeous rug!

A girlfriend was also throwing a corner pine shelf out (you might see it next to the table) so I have inherited that and as I want to reduce the pine in the room not increase it (:-)) I will be painting it white – will do a before and after.

The walls I plan to paint a feature blue/green and Antique White or similar, with my wallpaper feature art, but the room already feels like a new one!

Do you have ideas for small changes that may make a big difference in one of your rooms? Would love to hear and see!
